ABSTRACT

The development of strong sensitizing and Earth-abundant antenna molecules is highly desirable for CO2 reduction through artificial photosynthesis. Herein, a library of Zn-dipyrrin complexes (Z-1-Z-6) are rationally designed via precisely controlling their molecular configuration to optimize strong sensitizing Earth-abundant photosensitizers. Upon visible-light excitation, their special geometry enables intramolecular charge transfer to induce a charge-transfer state, which was first demonstrated to accept electrons from electron donors. The resulting long-lived reduced photosensitizer was confirmed to trigger consecutive intermolecular electron transfers for boosting CO2-to-CO conversion. Remarkably, the Earth-abundant catalytic system with Z-6 and Fe-catalyst exhibits outstanding performance with a turnover number of >20 000 and 29.7% quantum yield, representing excellent catalytic performance among the molecular catalytic systems and highly superior to that of noble-metal photosensitizer Ir(ppy)2(bpy)+ under similar conditions. Experimental and theoretical investigations comprehensively unveil the structure-activity relationship, opening up a new horizon for the development of Earth-abundant strong sensitizing chromophores for boosting artificial photosynthesis.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Oxidative stress is a crucial factor contributing to the occurrence and development of secondary damage in spinal cord injuries (SCI), ultimately impacting the recovery process. α-lipoic acid (ALA) exhibits potent antioxidant properties, effectively reducing secondary damage and providing neuroprotective benefits. However, the precise mechanism by which ALA plays its antioxidant role remains unknown. METHODS: We established a model of moderate spinal cord contusion in rats. Experimental rats were randomly divided into 3 distinct groups: the sham group, the model control group (SCI_Veh), and the ALA treatment group (SCI_ALA). The sham group rats were exposed only to the SC without contusion injury. Rats belonging to SCI_Veh group were not administered any treatment after SCI. Rats of SCI_ALA group were intraperitoneally injected with the corresponding volume of ALA according to body weight for three consecutive days after the surgery. Subsequently, three days after SCI, spinal cord samples were obtained from three groups of rats: the sham group, model control group, and administration group. Thereafter, total RNA was extracted from the samples and the expression of three sets of differential genes was analyzed by transcriptome sequencing technology. Real-time PCR was used to verify the sequencing results. The impact of ALA on oxidative stress in rats following SCI was assessed by measuring their total antioxidant capacity and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) content. The effects of ALA on rat recovery following SCI was investigated through Beattie and Bresnahan (BBB) score and footprint analysis. RESULTS: The findings from the transcriptome sequencing analysis revealed that the model control group had 2975 genes with altered expression levels when compared to the ALA treatment group. Among these genes, 1583 were found to be upregulated while 1392 were down-regulated. Gene ontology (GO) displayed significant enrichment in terms of functionality, specifically in oxidative phosphorylation, oxidoreductase activity, and signaling receptor activity. The Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) pathway was enriched in oxidative phosphorylation, glutathione metabolism and cell cycle. ALA was found to have multiple benefits for rats after SCI, including increasing their antioxidant capacity and reducing H2O2 levels. Additionally, it was effective in improving motor function (such as 7 days after SCI, the BBB score for SCI_ALA was 8.400 ± 0.937 compared to 7.050 ± 1.141 for SCI_Veh) and promoting histological recovery after SCI (The results of HE demonstrated that the percentage of damage area in was 44.002 ± 6.680 in the SCI_ALA and 57.215 ± 3.964 in the SCI_Veh at the center of injury.). CONCLUSION: Overall, the findings of this study confirmed the beneficial effects of ALA on recovery in SCI rats through transcriptome sequencing, behavioral, as well histology analyses.

ABSTRACT

Inflammation is one of the key injury factors for spinal cord injury (SCI). Exosomes (Exos) derived from M2 macrophages have been shown to inhibit inflammation and be beneficial in SCI animal models. However, lacking targetability restricts their application prospects. Considering that chemokine receptors increase dramatically after SCI, viral macrophage inflammatory protein II (vMIP-II) is a broad-spectrum chemokine receptor binding peptide, and lysosomal associated membrane protein 2b (Lamp2b) is the key membrane component of Exos, we speculated that vMIP-II-Lamp2b gene-modified M2 macrophage-derived Exos (vMIP-II-Lamp2b-M2-Exo) not only have anti-inflammatory properties, but also can target the injured area by vMIP-II. In this study, using a murine contusive SCI model, we revealed that vMIP-II-Lamp2b-M2-Exo could target the chemokine receptors which highly expressed in the injured spinal cords, inhibit some key chemokine receptor signaling pathways (such as MAPK and Akt), further inhibit proinflammatory factors (such as IL-1ß, IL-6, IL-17, IL-18, TNF-α, and iNOS), and promote anti-inflammatory factors (such as IL-4 and Arg1) productions, and the transformation of microglia/macrophages from M1 into M2. Moreover, the improved histological and functional recoveries were also found. Collectively, our results suggest that vMIP-II-Lamp2b-M2-Exo may provide neuroprotection by targeting the injured spinal cord, inhibiting some chemokine signals, reducing proinflammatory factor production and modulating microglia/macrophage polarization.

BACKGROUND: We aimed to establish the most suitable threshold for objective response (OR) in the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). METHODS: According to RECIST 1.1, we retrospectively evaluated MR images of NPC lesions in patients before and after induction chemotherapy (IC). Restricted cubic spline and maximally selected rank statistics were used to determine the cut-off value. Survival rates and differences between groups were compared with Kaplan-Meier curves and log-rank tests. RESULTS: Of 1126 patients, 365 cases who received IC treatment were suitable for RECIST 1.1 evaluation. The 20% cut-off value maximized between-group differences according to maximally selected rank statistics. No difference in distant metastasis-free survival between OR and non-response groups was shown using the primary threshold of OR (30%), while it differed when 20% was employed. CONCLUSIONS: With an optimal cut-off value of 20%, RECIST may assist clinicians to accurately evaluate disease response in NPC patients.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: The prognostic stratification for oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC) is heavily based on postoperative pathological depth of invasion (pDOI). This study aims to propose a preoperative MR T-staging system based on tumor size for non-pT4 OTSCC. METHODS: Retrospectively, 280 patients with biopsy-confirmed, non-metastatic, pT1-3 OTSCC, treated between January 2010 and December 2017, were evaluated. Multiple MR sequences, including axial T2-weighted imaging (WI), unenhanced T1WI, and axial, fat-suppressed coronal, and sagittal contrast-enhanced (CE) T1WI, were utilized to measure radiological depth of invasion (rDOI), tumor thickness, and largest diameter. Intra-class correlation (ICC) and univariate and multivariate analyses were used to evaluate measurement reproducibility, and factors' significance, respectively. Cutoff values were established using an exhaustive method. RESULTS: Intra-observer (ICC = 0.81-0.94) and inter-observer (ICC = 0.79-0.90) reliability were excellent for rDOI measurements, and all measurements were significantly associated with overall survival (OS) (all p < .001). Measuring the rDOI on axial CE-T1WI with cutoffs of 8 mm and 12 mm yielded an optimal MR T-staging system for rT1-3 disease (5-year OS of rT1 vs rT2 vs rT3: 94.0% vs 72.8% vs 57.5%). Using multivariate analyses, the proposed T-staging exhibited increasingly worse OS (hazard ratio of rT2 and rT3 versus rT1, 3.56 [1.35-9.6], p = .011; 4.33 [1.59-11.74], p = .004; respectively), which outperformed pathological T-staging based on nonoverlapping Kaplan-Meier curves and improved C-index (0.682 vs. 0.639, p < .001). CONCLUSIONS: rDOI is a critical predictor of OTSCC mortality and facilitates preoperative prognostic stratification, which should be considered in future oral subsite MR T-staging. CLINICAL RELEVANCE STATEMENT: Utilizing axial CE-T1WI, an MR T-staging system for non-pT4 OTSCC was developed by employing rDOI measurement with optimal thresholds of 8 mm and 12 mm, which is comparable with pathological staging and merits consideration in future preoperative oral subsite planning. KEY POINTS: • Tumor morphology, measuring sequences, and observers could impact MR-derived measurements and compromise the consistency with histology. • MR-derived measurements, including radiological depth of invasion (rDOI), tumor thickness, and largest diameter, have a prognostic impact on OS (all p < .001). • rDOI with cutoffs of 8 mm and 12 mm on axial CE-T1WI is an optimal predictor of OS and could facilitate risk stratification in non-pT4 OTSCC disease.

ABSTRACT

Objectives This study aimed to provide greater insight into the characteristics of severe and extraordinarily severe gas explosion accidents (SESGEAs). Methods. The study analyzed the accident characteristics and causes of SESGEAs. As an example, we conducted a specialized case analysis using the 24Model (fourth edition) on the recent Baoma coal mine gas explosion. Results. SESGEA data are characterized by greater volatility, with significant differences in the geographical distribution, temporal distribution and attributed characteristics of the accidents. From the accident analysis: chaotic ventilation management was the most serious accident cause of SESGEAs; unsafe acts related to ventilation operations accounted for 18.51% of all unsafe acts; coal miners lack professional safety knowledge and have a serious fluke mentality in mining work; enterprises have insufficient enforcement of safety procedure documents, and lack of attention to the allocation of underground human resources and safety training systems; and the importance of safety, the role of the safety department and satisfaction with safety facilities have become the most serious missing items of safety culture. Conclusion. This study can provide important data support and management basis to assist mine operators in developing more targeted accident prevention strategies.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Evidence for prevention strategies of radiotherapy (RT)-related injury in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) was lacking. Understanding the dynamic alterations in the cerebral white matter (WM) microstructure after RT may be helpful. PURPOSE: To investigate the dynamic alterations in the whole brain WM microstructure in patients with NPC in the 12 months after RT using multishell diffusion MRI (MS-dMRI). STUDY TYPE: Single-center longitudinal study. POPULATION: A total of 28 treatment-naïve patients with pathologically confirmed NPC (age: 39.68 ± 8.93 years, 11 female) and 20 healthy controls (age: 40.65 ± 9.76 years, 7 female). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCES: A 3 T, MS-dMRI using a single-shot echo planar imaging sequence. ASSESSMENT: MS-dMRI was acquired at baseline for the NPC patients and healthy controls, at 0-3 (acute, AC), 6 (early delayed, ED) and 12 months (late delayed, LD) after RT for the NPC patients. The mean and maximum radiation doses to the temporal lobe were acquired. The quality of images was reviewed. MS-dMRI was analyzed using tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS). The presentations of injury were defined by the findings of TBSS. STATISTICAL TESTS: Chi-square, t tests, repeated ANOVA, and Spearman-rank correlation analysis were used. P < 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. RESULTS: TBSS showed two WM injuries (injuries 1 and 2). Injury 1 emerged in the ED phase in the bilateral temporal poles and persisted throughout the ED and LD phases. Injury 2 developed from the AC to ED phase in the bilateral hemisphere and partially recovered in the LD phase. In the ED and LD phases, the multiple diffusion metrics were well correlated (r > 0.5 or <-0.5) with the RT dose, especially in the WM tracts in the temporal lobes. DATA CONCLUSION: Disparate WM injuries were observed in NPC patients after RT. The injuries may be primarily or secondarily induced by radiation. Injury 1 may be irreversible, while injury 2 seems to partially recover. EVIDENCE LEVEL: 2. TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 4.

ABSTRACT

A comparative study was conducted to compare the accident cause analysis methods of fault tree analysis (FTA) and 24Model. A major accident - the Xinjia Hotel collapse accident - was selected as the research object, the causes of the accident were reanalysed and accident prevention countermeasures were designed based on 24Model and FTA, respectively, and the systematic characteristics of 24Model were summarized. The research shows that both 24Model and FTA can carry out risk assessment, accident cause analysis and preventive countermeasure design based on their own rules. Different from FTA, 24Model has static and dynamic structures of specific forms, the definition of causes and factors in the model is more comprehensive and the analysis method is more hierarchical and normative. 24Model can analyse the deep-level cultural and system causes, but the analysis process does not use quantitative methods, only qualitative methods. 24Model has eight systematic characteristics, such as integrity, hierarchy and dynamics.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: To elucidate the impact of [18F]FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) vs. CT workup on staging and prognostic evaluation of clinical stage (c) I-II NSCLC. METHODS: We retrospectively identified 659 cI-II NSCLC who underwent CT (267 patients) or preoperative CT followed by PET/CT (392 patients), followed by curative-intended complete resection in our hospital from January 2008 to December 2013. Differences were assessed between preoperative and postoperative stage. Five-year disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) rates were calculated using the Kaplan-Meier approach and compared with log-rank test. Impact of preoperative PET/CT on survival was assessed by Cox regression analysis. RESULTS: The study included 659 patients [mean age, 59.5 years ± 10.8 (standard deviation); 379 men]. The PET/CT group was superior over CT group in DFS [12.6 vs. 6.9 years, HR 0.67 (95% CI 0.53-0.84), p < 0.001] and OS [13.9 vs. 10.5 years, HR 0.64 (95% CI 0.50-0.81), p < 0.001]. In CT group, more patients thought to have cN0 migrated to pN1/2 disease as compared with PET/CT group [26.4% (66/250) vs. 19.2% (67/349), p < 0.001], resulting in more stage cI cases being upstaged to pII-IV [24.7% (49/198) vs. 16.1% (47/292), p = 0.02], yet this was not found in cII NSCLC [27.5% (19/69) vs. 27.0% (27/100), p = 0.94]. Cox regression analysis identified preoperative PET/CT as an independent prognostic factor of OS and DFS (p = 0.002, HR = 0.69, 95% CI 0.54-0.88; p = 0.004, HR = 0.72, 95% CI 0.58-0.90). CONCLUSION: Addition of preoperative [18F]FDG PET/CT was associated with superior DFS and OS in resectable cI-II NSCLC, which may result from accurate staging and stage-appropriate therapy.

ABSTRACT

Cysteine is an important biological thiol and is closely related to cancer. It remains a challenge to develop a probe that can provide long-term fluorescence detection and imaging of Cys in cells as well as in living organisms. Here, a solid-state fluorophore HTPQ is combined with an acrylate group to construct a solid-state fluorescent probe HTPQC for Cys recognition. The fluorescence of the probe is quenched when the photoinduced electron transfer (PET) process is turned on and the excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) process is turned off. In the presence of Cys, an obvious solid-state fluorescence signal can be observed. The double quenching mechanism makes the probe HTPQC have the advantages of high sensitivity, good selectivity, and high contrast of biological imaging. Due to low cytotoxicity, the probe HTPQC can be used to detect exogenous and endogenous Cys in living cells and is capable of imaging over long periods of time. By making full use of long wavelengths, the probe can be applied for the detection of Cys levels in tumor mice and equipped with the ability to conduct long-term imaging in vivo.

INTRODUCTION: In recent years, with the rapid development of university laboratory construction, frequent laboratory accidents have aroused widespread concern. There is an urgent need to improve laboratory safety management's effectiveness further, enhance laboratory accident prevention ability, and reduce the occurrence of accidents. METHOD: Based on the accident causation theory, this paper uses the accident analysis path of 24Model and the logical idea of WBA (Why-Because-Analysis) to statistically analyze the causative factors of 64 typical college laboratory fire and explosion accidents and find out the defects of current college laboratory management. RESULTS: The study showed that unsafe human actions at the individual level were the most critical factors affecting laboratory safety management, with a high frequency of violations of experimental procedures (105 times) and managers' failure to perform their supervisory duties (98 times); low safety awareness and insufficient safety knowledge among laboratory personnel were key factors triggering unsafe actions. At the organizational level, the lack of training programs (92 times) and the lack of systematic procedures (106 times) are the weaknesses of the laboratory safety management system in general in all universities; the lack of safety culture construction is the root cause of laboratory management deficiencies. CONCLUSIONS: Based on the above statistical results, and taking into account the characteristics of university laboratories themselves, the root causes of poor safety are specifically analyzed and preventive measures are proposed in six areas to address the key causes of accidents. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: The results of this study are essential for improving the ability to prevent accidents in flammable and explosive laboratories in universities.

ABSTRACT

Breeding rapeseed varieties with more main inflorescence siliques is an idea for developing rapeseed varieties that are suitable for light and simplified cultivation. The Brassica napus exhibited cluster bud of the main inflorescence (Bnclib) gene. At the fruiting stage, the main inflorescence had more siliques, higher density, and more main inflorescences. Moreover, the top of the main inflorescence bifurcated. Genetic analysis showed that the separation ratio between Bnclib and the wild type in the F2 generation was 3:1, which indicated that the trait was a single-gene-dominant inheritance. Among the 24 candidate genes, only one gene, BnaA03g53930D, showed differential expression between the groups (False discovery rate, FDR ≤ 0.05, |log2FC|≤ 1). qPCR verification of the BnaA03g53930D gene between Huyou 17 and its Bnclib near-isogenic line showed that BnaA03g53930D was significantly differentially expressed in the stem tissue of Huyou 17 and its Bnclib near-isogenic line (Bnclib NIL). The determination of gibberellin (GA), brassinolide (BR), cytokinin (CTK), jasmonic acid (JA), growth hormone (IAA), and strigolactone (SL) content in the shoot apex of Huyou 17 by Bnclib NIL and wild type showed that all six hormones significantly differed between the Bnclib NIL and Huyou 17. It is necessary to conduct further research on the interactions between JA and the other five hormones and the main inflorescence bud clustering in B. napus.

Objective: To investigate the incidence of complications and types of chemoradiotherepy induces symptom clusters in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) who were first diagnosed after treatment and discharged from hospital. Methods: After their discharge home, 130 NPC patients who had been treated with chemoradiotherapy were asked to complete a modified Chinese version of the Quality of Life Questionnaire-Head and Neck Module developed by the European Organization for the Research and Treatment of Cancer in the Head and Neck. Symptom clusters in patients were identified through exploratory factor analysis. Results: The most serious symptoms for discharged NPC patients who had received chemoradiotherapy were dental problems, a sense of obstruction while swallowing, embarrassment in physical contact with family members and friends, difficulty in speaking with others, and embarrassment in public. The six symptom clusters identified through exploratory factor analysis were (1) painful eating, (2) social difficulties, (3) psychological disorders, (4) symptomatic shame, (5) teeth/throat injuries, and (6) sensory abnormalities. The total contribution rate of variance was 65.73%. Conclusion: NPC patients who are treated with chemoradiotherapy can experience adverse symptom clusters that continue after discharge. Nurses should evaluate the patients' symptoms before discharge and provide targeted health education services which would reduce the patients' complications and improve the quality of life at home. Besides, medical staff should evaluate the complications in a timely and comprehensive manner and provide individualized health education for the affected patients to help them manage chemoradiotherapy side effects.

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a common microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus. Reelin, an extracellular matrix protein, and its effector protein Disabled1 (DAB1) have been linked to cellular events and retinal development. However, whether and how Reelin/DAB1 signaling causes DR remains to be investigated. In our study, significantly increased expression of Reelin, very low density lipoprotein receptor (VLDLR), ApoE receptor 2 (ApoER2) and phosphorylated DAB1 in retinas of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced DR mouse model was observed, along with enhanced expression of proinflammatory factors. Similar results are confirmed in high glucose (HG)-treated human retinal pigment epithelium cell line ARPE-19. Surprisingly, dysregulated tripartite motif-containing 40 (TRIM40), an E3 ubiquitin ligase, is found to be involved in DR progression by bioinformatic analysis. We observe a negative correlation between TRIM40 and p-DAB1 protein expression levels under HG conditions. Importantly, we find that TRIM40 over-expression markedly ameliorates HG-induced p-DAB1, PI3K, p-protein B kinase (AKT) and inflammatory response in HG-treated cells, but dose not affect Reelin expression. Of note, Co-IP and double immunofluorescence identify an interaction between TRIM40 and DAB1. Furthermore, we show that TRIM40 enhances K48-linked polyubiquitination of DAB1, thereby promoting DAB1 degradation. Finally, promoting TRIM40 expression by intravenous injection of the constructed adeno-associated virus (AAV-TRIM40) markedly ameliorates DR phenotypes in STZ-treated mice, as indicated by the decreased blood glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc) levels, and increased hemoglobin contents. Additionally, diabetes-related elevation of acellular capillaries was also meliorated in mice over-expressing TRIM40. The electroretinogram (ERG) deficits were strongly rescued in mice receiving AAV-TRIM40 injection. Moreover, AAV-TRIM40 attenuates the inflammation and p-DAB1 expression in retinal tissues of STZ-treated mice. Collectively, our findings disclose a mechanism through which TRIM40 limits DAB1 stability under physiological conditions and reveals TRIM40 as a potential therapeutic target for the intervention of Reelin/DAB1 signaling, contributing to DR treatment.

ABSTRACT

An accumulation of heavy metals in soil poses a risk to the ecological environment and human health. In this study, the concentrations of heavy metals in soil and crops were examined in a lead-zinc mining area in Guizhou Province, China. The distribution and sources of heavy metals were analyzed using GIS spatial mapping. The potential ecological risks of heavy metals were assessed using the potential ecological risk index (RI), and the human health risk assessment method recommended by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) was used to quantify the health risk of residents exposed to heavy metals in the soil around lead-zinc mines. According to the results, the average of concentrations of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Ni, Pb, and Zn in the soil were 58, 7.9, 175, 64, 0.461, 65, 1539, and 2513 mg·kg-1, respectively, which were significantly higher than the background values in Guizhou Province. It was found that the As, Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb, and Zn concentrations were extremely irregular in the soil and that the concentrations decreased significantly with the distance to the smelters, which were greatly disturbed by human activities. Comprehensive evaluation of soil heavy metals using the potential ecological risk index revealed that the risks of soil heavy metals were pole-strength and strong levels, and Cd constituted the primary ecological risk factor. A total of 22% and 10% of the corn samples contained Pb and As above the heavy metal pollution thresholds in the national food safety standards. According to human health risk assessments, heavy metals in the soil present potential non-carcinogenic risks to adults or children, and pose a potential carcinogenic risk to children. Soil pH was an important controlling factor affecting the bioavailability, migration, and accumulation of Cd in soil-crop systems. This study provides data and theoretical support for the prevention and control of soil pollution in lead-zine mining areas.

ABSTRACT

Scabies is a common skin disorder, caused by the ectoparasite Sarcoptes scabiei. The scabies mites burrow is highly diagnostic but illegible by the naked eye, because it is tiny and may completely be obscured by scratch and crust. The classic technique is opening the end of an intact mite burrow with a sharp instrument and inspecting its contents in the light microscope under loupe vision. Dermatoscope is a new method to diagnose scabies, with the advantages of non-invasive and more sensitive. This study verified the characteristic manifestations of scabies under dermoscopy. Under the closer examination of the curvilinear scaly burrow, the scabies mite itself may be seen as a dark equilateral triangular structure, which is often referred to as a "jet with contrail." Besides, this study found that the positive detection rate of microscopic characteristic manifestations under the dermoscopy ordered by the external genitals, the finger seams and the trunk, which were statistically different (P-value < 0.05). Of note, this is the first study to explore the regional distribution of the characteristic dermoscopic manifestations of scabies. We are the first to propose to focus on examining the external genitalia and finger seams with dermoscopy.

In modern safety management, it is very important to study the influence of the whole safety system on unsafe acts in order to prevent accidents. However, theoretical research in this area is sparse. In order to obtain the influence law of various factors in the safety system on unsafe acts, this paper used system dynamics simulation to carry out theoretical research. First, based on a summary of the causes of the coal and gas outburst accidents, a dynamic simulation model for unsafe acts was established. Second, the system dynamics model is applied to investigate the influence of various safety system factors on unsafe acts. Third, the mechanism and the control measures of unsafe acts in the enterprise safety system are studied. This study's main result and conclusions are as follows: (1) In the new coalmines, the influence of the safety culture, safety management system, and safety ability on the safety acts were similar. The order of influence on the safety acts in production coalmines is as follows: safety management system > safety ability > safety culture. The difference is most evident in months ten to eighteen. The higher the safety level and safety construction standard of the company, the greater the difference. (2) In the construction of the safety culture, the order of influence was as follows: safety measure elements > safety responsibility elements = safety discipline elements > safety concept elements. It shows the difference in influence from the 6th month and attains its maximum value from the 12th month to the 14th month. (3) In the construction of the safety management system, the degree of influence in new coalmines was as follows: safety policy > safety management organization structure > safety management procedures. Among them, especially in the first 18 months, the impact of the safety policy was most apparent. However, in the production mine, the degree of influence was as follows: safety management organization structure > safety management procedures > safety policy, but the difference is very small. (4) The degree of influence on the construct of safety ability was as follows: safety knowledge > safety psychology = safety habits > safety awareness, but the difference on the impact was small.

ABSTRACT

Metal-organic framework (MOF) materials have broad application prospects in catalysis because of their ordered structure and molecular adjustability. However, the large volume of bulky MOF usually leads to insufficient exposure of the active sites and the obstruction of charge/mass transfer, which greatly limits their catalytic performance. Herein, we developed a simple graphene oxide (GO) template method to fabricate ultrathin Co-metal-organic layer (2.0 nm) on reduced GO (Co-MOL@r-GO). The as-synthesized hybrid material Co-MOL@r-GO-2 exhibits highly efficient photocatalytic performance for CO2 reduction, and the CO yield can reach as high as 25,442 µmol/gCo-MOL, which is over 20 times higher than that of the bulky Co-MOF. Systematic investigations demonstrate that GO can act as a template for the synthesis of the ultrathin Co-MOL with more active sites and can be used as the electron transport medium between the photosensitizer and the Co-MOL to enhance the catalytic activity for CO2 photoreduction.

Background: Following spinal cord injury (SCI), a large number of peripheral monocytes infiltrate into the lesion area and differentiate into macrophages (Mø). These monocyte-derived Mø are very difficult to distinguish from the local activated microglia (MG). Therefore, the term Mø/MG are often used to define the infiltrated Mø and/or activated MG. It has been recognized that pro-inflammatory M1-type Mø/MG play "bad" roles in the SCI pathology. Our recent research showed that local M1 cells are mainly CD45-/lowCD68+CD11b+ in the subacute stage of SCI. Thus, we speculated that the M1 cells in injured spinal cords mainly derived from MG rather than infiltrating Mø. So far, their dynamics following SCI are not yet entirely clear. Methods: Female C57BL/6 mice were used to establish SCI model, using an Infinite Horizon impactor with a 1.3 mm diameter rod and a 50 Kdynes force. Sham-operated (sham) mice only underwent laminectomy without contusion. Flow cytometry and immunohistofluorescence were combined to analyze the dynamic changes of polarized Mø and MG in the acute (1 day), subacute (3, 7 and 14 days) and chronic (21 and 28 days) phases of SCI. Results: The total Mø/MG gradually increased and peaked at 7 days post-injury (dpi), and maintained at high levels 14, 21 and 28 dpi. Most of the Mø/MG were activated, and the Mø increased significantly at 1 and 3 dpi. However, with the pathological process, activated MG increased nearly to 90% at 7, 14, 21 and 28 dpi. Both M1 and M2 Mø were increased significantly at 1 and 3 dpi. However, they decreased to very low levels from 7 to 28 dpi. On the contrary, the M2-type MG decreased significantly following SCI and maintained at a low level during the pathological process.
